Mekulu Mvondo Akame: Knight of the National Order of Valour!
The Head of State, Paul Biya, Grand Master of the National Orders honoured the Director General of the NSIF, by awarding him the prestigious medal on an exceptional basis, at a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Finance on Friday, the 26th of April 2024 in Yaounde.
“Mr Noël Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame, on behalf of the President of the Republic and by the powers vested in us, we make you a Knight of the National Order of Valour”. These words from Louis Paul Motaze, Minister of Finance, resonated on Friday the 26th of April 2024 in a room filled at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel.
The Boss of the NSIF has been elevated to the highest distinction Cameroon has to offer, in recognition of the remarkable contribution made by the National Social Insurance Fund to the State's financing operations on the public securities market, amounting to 130.6 billion CFA francs. This action took the form of “the structuring of the very first Treasury bond issue, with a maturity of 10 years, making the NSIF a first-class corporate investor”, explained the Minister of Finance, before continuing: “I would also like to congratulate the Director General for his involvement in the various issues made by the Treasury on the financial market”.
Indeed, a cardinal principle that grounds the NSIF investment policy is that of economic and social utility as well as making an effective contribution to growth. It is easy to understand why the NSIF has always responded favourably to requests from the State through various cash advances totalling 57.9 billion CFA francs, not forgetting the financing of the deficit in health facilities to supplement the State's action. In addition, there is the renovation of the No. 1 ministerial building, the construction of the Okolo residential complex to complete the real estate offer and the improvement of the medical care offered via its reference health structures: the Essos Hospital Centre and the Medico-Social Centres of Garoua and Maroua. All this has been made possible by the efficient and prudent management of financial resources and the optimisation of investments.
The DG was therefore very proud to receive this award which is reserved for exceptional people. “I am extremely proud to receive such a special distinction from the President of the Republic, who in a way recognises our contributions to the national construction effort, particularly through the financing of the State budget” said Noël Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame.
On behalf of all the recipients, the new Knight of the National Order of Valour continued: “Mr Minister of Finance, please accept to convey to the President of the Republic, Grand Master of the National Orders, the very high gratitude we express to him for having granted us this distinctive insignia which, in a Republic such as ours, is worth what it is worth, that is, a great deal”.
Addressing the staff, who paid him a vibrant tribute on his arrival at the esplanade of the NSIF Head Office, the DG revealed: “It is the NSIF above all that is being rewarded for the collective work that we do. I am indeed the Head of the Institution, and in so doing, I give impetus to the Institution's activities but at the same time, I carry the efforts, the will and the individual support of my collaborators”.
Once again, all our admiration, Mr Knight of the National Order of Valour!
