Three partnership agreements between the two institutions were signed on Thursday, 11 September 2025, at the National Social Insurance Fund’s Head Office in Yaounde, Independence Square.
The NSIF is investing in an opportunity that offers not only the best possible guarantees of economic and social profitability, but also liquidity and security, in order to ensure the long-term future of social security in Cameroon.
The Director General of the NSIF signed on Thursday afternoon three partnership agreements with the Indian Group Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms, represented by Mr Gagan Gupta, its Founder and General Manager.
One of the main motivations to this partnership is the recent creation of the Dibamba Industrial Port Zone - a new catalyst for Cameroon’s industrialisation-, by Arise IIP and the Port Authority of Douala. This platform is designed to alleviate traffic congestion in Douala, is now Cameroon's leading ecosystem, combining industrial and port facilities across 517 hectares, with an integrated industrial park, warehouses and storage facilities, port facilities, logistics hubs, and water and electricity supply networks.
According to its Top Manager, the NSIF will invest in three major projects: "The construction of a container reception and storage platform at the Port Authority of Douala, which will be relieve of approximately four million cubic metres of containers per year, representing about one-third of the port's current capacity. The construction of port infrastructure, which will not only be for containers, but will also include many industrial production and processing units on an area of more than 100 hectares, with plans to expand to more than 220 hectares." He added: ‘The third project will be the first industrial construction project on this platform. It is the construction of a factory to process our local cotton into various products: fabric, clothing, sheets, towels and many others.’
These three major projects are socially profitable investments, which should be completed within 24 months, while providing extremely high added value. "The initiative will have a significant impact on the workforce. We will have around 15,000 people recruited on this wealth-creating platform. We will create a lot of wealth, equivalent to between 0.5 and 0.7% of Cameroon's GDP," said the Director General of the NSIF.
Looking ahead, the Cameroon's NSIF is working on other projects that could generate up to 3,000 direct jobs.
