Dr MENANGA Thérèse Patricia: “La maman”!
This is the affectionate nickname that her close collaborators have given her, which connotes both her maternal spirit and her rigour at work.
If the NSIF is able to count on high-quality female leadership, it is also thanks to the profile embodied by Dr Mrs Mbida Ntsama née Menanga Thérèse Patricia, Chief of Service in charge of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Maternal Health at the Essos Hospital Centre.
Dr MENANGA, during a conference
The woman who chose to put herself at the service of women's health, and even more at the service of “life”, began her career with the Institution on the 6th of September 2005. She took her first steps in the right direction, influenced by the discipline, rigour and, above all, the self-sacrifice of one of her former superiors: Mrs Ejangue, whom she considers a professional mentor. Supervised by an experienced team, and arriving in the prime of her professional life, she has succeeded in standing out thanks to her strong sense of professional consciousness. This dedication has led to her remarkable career development, starting as a gynaecologist upon recruitment. From the 4th of January 2007, she was Chief of Unit in charge of Obstetrics until the 29th of September 2009, and since then has been Chief of Service in charge of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Maternal Health at the Essos Hospital Centre.
She who makes honesty and rigour her credos, asserts through her work, the status of focal point of the policy embodied by the top manager: improving the quality of service. Her peers testify to her impact on the Institution of work within the Service, patient follow-up, selfless service, empathy towards patients, and above all respect for the basic principles of medicine. She is well aware of the realities in the field, and has the credit of introducing “deprivatisation” of patients in her service. In other words, a patient is not just a doctor's patient, but the patient of the medical team. Dr MENANGA has always been obsessed with obstetrics, but her greatest dream is to see Cameroon have midwives of the highest moral and intellectual calibre. Passionate about her work, she would be delighted to contribute to improving the quality of midwifery in Cameroon once she retires.
Humility is her watch-word. Dr MENANGA is an accomplished woman, yes, but a woman of professional impact who has undoubtedly understood the role of intellectual women in society. After 19 years of loyal service to the NSIF, her skills will continue to shine through...
