YOUTH DAY 2025 THE NSIF TAKES CARE OF DISABLED PERSONS
On 11 February 2025, the Social Security Institution of Cameroon handed over a large donation of medicines to the inhabitants of the National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (CNRPH), located in the Etoug-Ebe neighbourhood in Yaounde.
Once again, the NSIF credo for the 59th Youth Day celebrations was to cater for vulnerable groups. Within the framework of its social action, the NSIF chose to provide health care for disabled persons at the National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (CNRPH).
At the request of the SPC Entertainment label, owned by the musician DJ Pat Cool, the NSIF was invited to take part in the “Jeunesse Handicapable” concert. This event is both beneficial and entertaining and was represented by the Chief of the Social Insurance Centre for Melen. Carrying the NSIFs message of love and empathy for disabled but capable youths - hence the nickname “Handicapables” - the Chief of the Centre handed over a large donation of medicines, which will be used to provide health care for disabled persons undergoing treatment at the Centre. “I am here on behalf of the Director General of the NSIF, who has asked me to deliver a twofold message. The first is to reaffirm his support for the social cause, especially when it concerns people with disabilities. The second is to present you with this symbolic gift, which consists of essential medicines designed to improve the quality of life of disabled persons. The Director General advises that these medicines be used wisely, rationally and for the benefit of these people, who are one of the most vulnerable groups in our society”, Mrs Mbella Ebouele Erna Téclaire told the Director General of the National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (CNRPH). In his capacity as a happy recipient of these gifts, Dr Alexandre Manga immediately handed over the package to the Centre's Stores Accountant, while promising the NSIF DG “to make good use of the gifts, with a detailed report”. He went on to salute “the NSIFs ‘loyalty to its prerogatives of supporting the social cause and wishing its Top Management success and a prosperous future".
The solemn sequence on this special 11th February was warmly applauded by the CNRPH inhabitants and dozens of youths from the Yaounde 6 Subdivision. The esplanade of the reception centre also provided an opportunity for the inhabitants to show off their skills in making handbags, hats, purses, traditional chairs and, above all, in singing and performing beautiful local melodies. The aim was to share their passion with the public.
Two Cameroonian music legends, Talla André Marie and Ben Decca, staged a mind-blowing show full of beautiful melodies to add to the joy of these disabled but capable youths. It was a great dose of joy for the inhabitants of the CNRPH, as well as providing positive memories for the future.
