Occupational Risks Prevention Certificate of excellence awarded!
The certificate of excellence was awarded to the NSIF of Cameroon for its successful implementation of the occupational risk prevention guidelines laid down by the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

The NSIF stands at the top of the African social insurance institutions list. A seventh ISSA certificate of excellence of the institution, to consolidate its position as a model institution, in the area of occupational risk prevention. This achievement is the result of measures implemented by the social security institution to encourage companies to undertake investment in the prevention of work-related risks, to ensure the health and safety of workers in the workplace, and to enhance productivity. Risk prevention in the workplace generally involves avoiding risks by preventing dangerous hazards or exposures; assessing risks so that appropriate preventive action can be taken; incorporating prevention into the design of workplaces and personal protective equipment (PPE), to prevent work-related accidents and illnesses and reduce the impact on workers' health.

In this area of social security covered by the NSIF in Cameroon, several strategic initiatives are being implemented to strengthen prevention through action lines. The NSIF has two occupational health and safety policies, one internal and the other aimed at companies, together with an action plan. Both policies align with the national OSH policy and the principles of the ISSA vision. A collaborative approach has been adopted, involving close cooperation with the competent public authorities, employers, workers and renowned academic institutions, because "prevention is not the exclusive responsibility of the State, an institution, a company or a worker. It is all these players who must act to prevent occupational risks as effectively as possible," says Mr Noël Alain Olivier MEKULU MVONDO AKAME.

Prevention is therefore an ongoing commitment at the NSIF, and the initiatives undertaken contribute to information and awareness-raising, as well as to the development of a genuine culture of prevention. Work goes on at the NSIF...
