An employer is a natural person or legal entity (public or private company) under whose direction and authority, a worker undertakes to place his services in return for remuneration.

According to section 4 of the 1973 Ordinance: “Any natural or legal person employing one or more workers covered by the Labour Code is required to join the NSIF”.

There are two types of employers in respect to social security: employers of professional labour and those of domestic labour.

NB: The employer “State of Cameroon” whose staff is governed by the Labour Code is exempted.
