SAPELLI AÏNA: Insured Persons in Charge!
Biometric identification by facial recognition is already used in all Social Insurance Centres in Cameroon.
The new identification system via the Sapelli Aïna application is causing quite a buzz among insured persons. This is a technique for verifying the identity of an insured person based on facial recognition. It has been introduced by the NSIF to facilitate and improve the quality of service provided to Insured Persons.
Based on artificial intelligence, this system is designed to optimise file management costs and combat fraud, identity theft and fraudulent declarations. The Director General of the NSIF, Noël Alain Olivier Mekulu Mvondo Akame, is determined to put a stop to these practices.
The results of using this application have been positive. Most users are delighted when they realise that, with Sapelli Aïna, they no longer need to go all the way to Social Insurance Centres. This was the case for Papa Nicolas Tchiaze, an NSIF Insured Person, who was amazed by the news: “After logging in on my phone with the assistance of an NSIF Staff, I realised that I no longer have to come to a Centre for Identification purposes. I am so happy knowing that such an application exists. I would like to thank the NSIF for this innovation, which gives us the chance to identify ourselves remotely” he said.
The application is accessible to download from the Play Store and App Store. While waiting for the entire target group to have the appropriate connection tools, the NSIF continues to move towards total digitisation, for the satisfaction of its insured persons.
Identification operations are ongoing, and the telephone numbers of Officials of the Social Insurance Centres are available to clients for remote assistance.
