BIOMETRIC PHYSICAL IDENTIFICATION: From digital fingerprinting to face recognition!

The NSIF, which until now used biometric identification by fingerprint, just got a biometric identification system by face recognition using artificial intelligence based on a deep neural network.

To benefit from this technology, the Director General of the NSIF, Noël Alain Olivier MEKULU MVONDO AKAME authorised the launch of the face biometric enrolment campaign for all the insured persons, this the concern, on the one hand, the payment of the fair right to the correct beneficiary, and on the other hand, the improvement of the quality of service provided to our clients/users.

The enrolment consists of collecting biometric data (fingerprints, facial prints) from each NSIF-insured person to check his/her identity remotely via the "Sapelli AÏNA" mobile application.

As Mrs FOUA, a 71-year-old retiree, who just completed her One-time enrolment in her Centre of Management, noted: "This is a great innovation that makes our lives easier! Face recognition will allow me to use only my mobile application to show my proof of life. I won't have to go anywhere, which is extremely difficult at my age”.

This is also the case for Mr ITOK, who does not hide his satisfaction, as he will be able to provide the periodical documents required for the payment of his Family allowance, with no need to go to a Social Insurance Centre.

All this is now possible thanks to the Sapelli AÏNA mobile application, which can be downloaded free of charge from PlayStore and AppStore. The application also collects location data to know your geographical position in order to provide access to the proof of life functionality and the renewal of rights documents.

After physical enrolment with the NSIF, all you have to do is download and install the "Sapelli AÏNA" mobile application on your smartphones/tablets.

Access and management of the session is possible by simply providing:

• The couple (the NSIF insured number, the attribute code) as an identifier;
• The access code or password is generated the first time by the system and can be changed at will.

This ergonomic, intuitive, and secure application allows you, through its various menus, to access the following functionalities: Submission of periodic documents for the maintenance of rights, proof of life, and consultation of the various receipts provided by the system. These operations can be carried out from any geographical location of physical identification approved by the NSIF (National Territory and countries having an agreement with Cameroon).
