A CLEARER VISION OF THE FUTURE
The MAGRABI ICO, in partnership with the NSIF, is organising a free cataract screening campaign for the NSIF pensioners from the 20th of October to the 28th of November 2022 in the Social Insurance Centres (CPS) of the Centre region.
A cataract is one of the leading causes of blindness in the world. For this reason, according to the medical staff of MAGRABI, it is crucial to detect the disease beforehand to treat it efficiently.
Therefore, on Friday, 11 November 2022, the CPS Mimboman received a team from MAGRABI that came to consult the NSIF pensioners. Many of them came to the Centre especially to be consulted. Among them, is Mr Mbarga Pascal Norbert, a pensioner since 2005. "I think this free screening campaign organised by the Director General of the NSIF is a great idea. Most pensioners have eye problems. He did well to invite them and I can only welcome this action”. The main purpose of this campaign is to fight against cataracts. It is important to diagnose it early enough to treat it and reduce the number of people affected. Mr Njoya Abdel, a medical staff, detailed the patient's day, which starts with the visual acuity test, and the referral to the refraction, which is a diagnostic technique. He will then be taken to the ophthalmologist who consults him and prescribes various medications such as eye drops, glasses and others. If a patient is diagnosed with cataracts, he/she is referred to the hospital.
A good diagnosis takes place in an appropriate environment. In order to achieve this, the Head of Centre Mimboman and the staff ensured that the campaign is carried out in the best conditions. The deputy head of the Centre stated: "As the campaign took place today from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the main arrangements were logistical. We provided appropriate premises with the necessary facilities to be able to consult the patients. We added staff from the general administration and SBT to assist the campaign team. The staff of the Social Insurance Centre Mimboman were involved and committed to the success of the campaign”.
Thanks to the one-day screening campaign at the CPS Mimboman, about twenty patients could receive free consultations. Among them, just a pensioner was diagnosed with cataracts. The campaign is going on in the different CPS of the Centre region for the benefit of the NSIF pensioners. So, we are acting for a better world.
