Digital communication: The NSIF shares its experience at ESSTIC
The Technical Adviser (TA) in charge of governance at the social security institution spoke with students and teachers from the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ESSTIC) during an academic conference held on Wednesday, 11 June 2025.
‘The digital transformation of public communication in Cameroon: challenges and prospects for a connected administration’ is the theme chosen by the ‘Team Excellence’, composed of third-year students in the ‘Institutional Communication’ programme at ESSTIC, the organiser of the event for which the NSIF was invited as a case study in the Cameroonian administrative landscape.
This was an opportunity for the institution to share its strategy, which focuses on implementing a national social security culture, through the sub-theme: ‘Digital communication at the service of social security.’ And, because a better-informed population has easy access to protection and therefore to all the innovations introduced over the years, CT Christiane Mpongo Kono gave a 30-minute presentation on the digital communication arsenal deployed on a daily basis to raise awareness, inform and explain citizens' rights and duties in this area. The strategic manager explained in a clear and accessible manner how digital communication contributes to the extension of social protection through relevant content and applications that facilitate administrative procedures. This is accompanied by a monthly scientific analysis of data based on predefined key performance indicators (KPIs).
The ESSTIC academic community was introduced to internal digital communication tools such as Zimbra messaging, with an external email address (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), and WhatsApp communities specific to each structure and profession, which boost team communication. The same applies to external communication tools, from the website www.cnps.cm, a veritable encyclopaedia of social security, to the MA CNPS A MOI and Sapelli Aïna mobile apps, as well as social media pages (Twitter –X-: @CnpsCameroun; Facebook and Messenger: CNPS; YouTube: CNPSCAMEROUNOFFICIEL; TikTok: @cnps.cameroun and LinkedIn: CNPS Cameroon, promoting our skills). Together with other traditional communication channels, this now represents a wide network for interactive and dynamic exchanges with users, who are, for us, our valued clients.
This interactive exchange in an academic setting shows that digital communication is now essential for providing details to an increasingly ‘connected’ population about changes in regulations and procedures, innovations and new services offered by social security. The NSIF has therefore integrated artificial intelligence into its digital communication platforms. On its website, a QR code can be used to authenticate the online clearance certificate (APS) and, in the near future, a chatbox shall be available to help find solutions to complaints more quickly.
