IWD 2025: Relevant exchanges for women's rights

The 40th anniversary of International Women's Rights Day was the occasion for the “Association Dynamique des Femmes de la CNPS (ADYNAFE-CNPS)” to launch Women's Week with a major conference debate. The event brought together an attentive audience to discuss the key issues affecting women's rights.

On Tuesday 4 March, ADYNAFE-CNPS organised a training session on "Enforcement of maintenance claims and innovations in civil status and widows' rights". At 15.30, after their day's work, members of the association had the opportunity to participate in an intellectual debate led by several legal experts. Firstly, Dr Atangana Nkourou, Deputy Director of Legal Affairs and Litigation (DAJC2), moderated by Mr Arsène Medou, who spoke about the enforcement of maintenance claims, and Mr Dorcas Nkongme, Mr Laurie Meboung and Mr Nsen Abeng, who spoke about the innovations in the 2024 civil status law.

Afterwards, the chief of the Social Insurance Centre Mimboman spoke to the women of Adynafe about the rights of widows at the NSIF.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the question and answer session, where participants were able to voice their concerns. Questions included: 'Doesn't the law put a non-working husband in jail because he can't pay his alimony? Doesn't the law provide for him to receive support from the other party? What is the NSIF doing to inform people about widows' rights?

This conference, a real source of legal information, gave participants a better understanding of their rights and the remedies available to them in the face of legal challenges. Once again, ADYNAFE-CNPS organised an event of the highest quality, demonstrating its key role in the emancipation and protection of women's rights.
