Sport-Athletics: The NSIF Athletic's club at the zenith

For its first participation in the national senior athletics championship, the NSIF Athletic's club shone brightly and established itself as one of the best clubs in Cameroon, ahead of more experienced and capped clubs. To close a season full of twists and turns, the NSIF athletes won a total of 8 medals including 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze.

A Golden Season

If the season ended on a very good note, it is of course the result of a long period that lasted a little over five months. The club presented several young athletes including beginners, but also famous names in Cameroonian athletics to carry its noble project of contributing to the development of this discipline. On the closing season evening, we can say without a doubt that the entry into the field of this young senior team was a great success in view of the obtained results.

The NSIF Athletic's club is holder of two Cameroonian champion titles in the women's 400m with Stella Eyenga and Maria Thomson in the javelin throw who will also glean a silver medal in the women's 100m. The greatest satisfaction is undoubtedly the bronze medal of Wilfranne Nguebong, a young nugget and fruit of the NSIF breeding-ground. In the high jump discipline, the only 14 years old athlete is already among the best athletes in Cameroon and is running for the African championships.

Freddy Oyono, silver medalist in the long jump

The score is just as important in the men's category with renowned athletes who have on many occasions brought the club to the podium, namly the long jump silver medalist Freddy Oyono, the 100 and 200m double silver David Nguema and the 100m bronze Idriss Lele Nkoagne. Just one length from the podium, these performances put the club in 5th place in the women's category and 4th place in the men's category.

Results that match its leaders

Thanks to leadership and management completely committed to the cause of victory, another great success definitively places the NSIF at the rank of giant in Cameroon. Under the supervision of the Director General, the guidance of the Director of Finance and Accounting and under an almost maternal presidency of Nathalie Atangana, the club conquered the hearts of many fans and athletes through the quality of its results and the resources put in place to ensure the complete success of this major project. At the heart of a tumultuous season on the technical level, the Top Manager spared no efforts to ensure that athletes made more than honorable appearances at both national and international competitions, including the CAA international grand prix, the preselection of 6 athletes for the African Championships, and the selection of some for the CONFEJES organised in Douala. What a success story for the club, which augurs an even brighter future.
